Arctic Research Base Guide — The Easiest Red Keycard

Arctic Research Base needs just a blue keycard — no fuse, the base is pre-powered. Reward: a red keycard on a box behind the left garage door, plus snowmobiles next door.

Bring exactly this

  • Blue card ×1
  • Cold protection instead

No fuse. No timer. No radiation. Arctic Research Base swaps the electrical puzzle for a stealth-or-gunfight problem: seven scientists between you and the simplest red card in the game.

Before you go

One blue keycard — that’s the whole electrical requirement. Bring cold protection (arctic biome), meds, and a real weapon for the scientists. A silenced rifle from range trivializes the run; a naked sprint usually doesn’t.

The route

  1. Scout the patrols. From the treeline, watch the scientist routes for a gap — they loop between the huts and the vehicle yard.
  2. Left garage — swipe blue. The blue reader is on the side wall of the left garage. Swipe and let the door roll up.
  3. Loot the garage, take the card. Clear the crates, then go to the back of the room: the red keycard sits on a box. That’s the prize.
  4. Right garage — snowmobile (optional). The second garage’s blue reader opens onto a snowmobile. If you cleared the patrols, ride it out — fastest exfil in the biome.

After the run

You spent one blue swipe and zero fuses for a red card — the best trade in Rust. Spend it well: Military Tunnels or Launch Site both want the full loadout, so bank the card until you’re kitted.

Arctic Research Base — quick answers

Does Arctic Research Base need a fuse?
No — it's the one land monument whose circuits are already powered. A blue keycard is the only requirement.
Where is the red keycard at Arctic Research Base?
Behind the left garage's blue-card door, sitting on a box at the back of the room.
How many scientists are at Arctic Research Base?
Around seven patrol the base. They hit hard in the open snow — use the huts for cover or clear them from range before swiping.
Can you take the snowmobiles?
Yes — the second garage (also behind a blue door) holds a snowmobile, and they're driveable across the arctic biome.
