Arctic Research Base breaks every puzzle convention: no fuse, no timer, no circuit — the base is already powered. One blue swipe stands between you and a red keycard. The catch is the welcome party.

Why you’re here

The cheapest red keycard in Rust — and snowmobiles, which spawn in the garages and are yours if you can start one. For solo players who hate the Airfield/Train Yard grind, this is the shortcut into red-tier content.

The layout

A snowbound compound of huts and garages patrolled by scientists (expect around seven across the base). The two garages are the target: the left garage’s blue reader opens onto crates and the red keycard sitting on a box at the back; the right garage holds a snowmobile. Cold is the real environmental hazard — dress for the arctic biome, not for radiation.

Loot worth the trip

  • Red keycard on a box behind the blue garage door
  • Snowmobiles in the second garage
  • ~15 basic crates, 5 military crates, 1 elite crate across the base
