Small Oil Rig is a combat monument wearing a puzzle’s clothes. One blue swipe opens the card room — everything else is fought for, not swiped for.
Before you go
Blue keycard, boat + fuel, combat kit, meds. No fuses, no rad gear. If you plan to hack the crate, bring ammo for the heavy scientist wave and ideally a crew — solo crate defenses are hero runs.
The route
- Approach by boat. Come in on the platform’s blind side and tie off low. A loud approach starts the fight before you’re on the ladder.
- Clear deck by deck. Scientists hold every level. Work up methodically — falling back down a ladder mid-fight is how runs end.
- Blue card room. Mid-platform, swipe the blue reader: military crates inside. This is the guaranteed part of the trip — bank it.
- The decision: hack or leave. The locked crate sits on the upper level. Starting the hack begins 15 minutes of holding the platform against the Chinook’s heavy scientists — and any player crew that saw the event start.
- Hold and extract. If you hack: set up on defensible ceilings/corners, kill the heavies as they land, open the crate at 0:00, and get to your boat before the next wave of players arrives.
After the run
No recycler offshore — everything comes home raw. If the crate defense isn’t in your crew’s weight class yet, the blue-room-only run is still profitable and far safer; Large Oil Rig is the escalation when you’re ready.

- No — neither rig uses electric fuses. Small Oil Rig needs just a blue keycard; the fights are the real requirement.
- What happens when you hack the locked crate?
- A 15-minute timer starts, and a Chinook flies in heavy scientists to defend the platform. Survive the timer and the crate opens on top-tier loot.
- How do I get to Small Oil Rig?
- By boat — rowboat or RHIB from the coast. Bring enough low-grade fuel for the return trip, and expect other crews to contest an active rig.
- Is there radiation on the Oil Rigs?
- No. Your protection budget goes to armor and meds for the scientist fights instead.
